WIN A RAY BALKWILL LIMITED EDITION PRINT AT DELAMORE 2013!

Ray Balkwill is a strong advocate of painting en plein air, his main objective being to capture the mood and spirit of a place. DELAMORE ESTATE ANNOUNCES THEY ARE TO HOLD THE 'PINK TREE WOOD FAIR' IN AUGUST 2013

19th February

Following on from the success of its Delamore Art Summer exhibitions, the Delamore Estate is to hold an outdoor event to celebrate all things wood.

'The Pink Tree Wood Fair will provide a showcase for local artists and craftspeople working in wood' says Delamore's Gavin Dollard 'it will also help continue to raise the awareness of wood diseases such as Larch disease and Ash dieback'

The one-day event, which is to be held on Sunday 25th August takes its name from the artistic collaboration between Delamore and artist Henry Bruce in 2012. Henry's striking transformation of a decaying 300 year old oak tree on the estate, saw the tree painted fluorescent pink. It attracted national media attention when it was first featured as part of the Delamore Art exhibition and highlighted the issue of tree killing fungus phytophthora.

As well as raising public awareness, the fair seeks to celebrate wood based art, traditional rural crafts and forestry industries, as well as locally produced food and drink. The event will be interspersed with demonstrations and activities for all the family.

The Pink Tree Wood Fair is welcoming interest and enquiries from contractors, artists and craftspeople who might wish to take a stand at the event. For more information please contact David Woodford on Tel: 01752 837663 or email david.woodford@delamore.com.

DELAMORE'S INVITATION TO VIEW

6th February

'Invitation to View' (www.invitationtoview.co.uk) has been opening houses and gardens to the public since 1998. This year, 55 properties open their doors to visitors in England covering seven counties including the West Country. What is unique about the scheme is that individuals (as opposed to groups, who are also welcome) can visit private houses, many of which are rarely open, and be shown around, usually by the owners. The aim is to treat visitors as personal guests and they are able to see more than the traditional guided tours.

The present and fourth Delamore, with stunning gardens, was laid out and built in 1859. The private chapel and house have stained glass from the period and earlier. The mid-Victorian gardens feature rare rhododendrons said to have been brought from China by Sir William Parker.

Delamore is open for private tours on June 28th and September 13th both at 2pm. For tour and ticket information see the website above or call the Mercury Theatre on 01206 573948 or book online at www.mercurytheatre.co.uk
