Thrown Porcelain and Cobalt Brushwork
The Artist - Mia Sarosi
“I think of my ceramics as functional art - intended to be both useful and beautiful. My making method is thrown porcelain, producing simple functional forms that carry flowing brushwork decoration. The form and decoration are given equal consideration and I strive for both to work harmoniously together during its creation. My surface designs are inspired by a wide range of sources including the natural world, flora and fauna, motifs and ideas from literature, history, theology and many more. I strive to retain a sense of freedom and playfulness in each piece and aim at painterly expression in both the making and the brushwork.”
