The Artist - Lar Cann SWAc
Lar Cann studied at the Plymouth College of Art and Design, qualifying with an NDD Painting Special. He is current Chairman of the Plymouth Society of Artists, Committee Member of the Penwith Society of Arts, and a former Director and Chairman of the St Ives Society of Artists. Though mineralogy and the mining and quarrying landscape of South West England is a first point of reference, his primary concern is the exploration of colour and texture on the picture plane, with no attempt at figurative representation. His work is held in Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery, the Royal Institution of Cornwall, the University of Sheffield and by the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital Trust, as well as in numerous private collections, UK and worldwide.
