The Artist - Shirley Kirkcaldy SWAc Assoc
Based on Dartmoor, Shirley's work is informed by what she experiences when in the landscape - an intuitive response to a place and time. Working from sketches made on location she uses colour and mark-making in a loose, expressive style and, by subtracting or abstracting information, her final images move away from documentary and more towards ambiguity. Thus, she invites the viewer to form their own interpretation, whilst conveying a personal significance of an ever-changing landscape. Recently selected as a featured artist in 'Dartmoor' magazine and exhibitor at the SW Academy exhibition, she is currently undertaking a BA at Plymouth College of Art.
