The Artist - Marie-Noelle Davies SWAc Assoc
I was born in France but have lived mainly in England. After receiving my degree in Fine Art from Exeter Art College I travelled for two years on a boat. In 1987, I held my first solo exhibition in the French Consulate, Rhodes, Greece, exhibiting works completed in a variety of coloured marble during the two-year sailing voyage. Since that time, I have worked with black marble from Ashburton and have had solo exhibitions in Exeter and Topsham. My principle works are in marble with themes of the natural world with fish and bird shapes influencing many pieces, while some are substantially figurative. In 2017, I spent a month in Spezia Italy, where I carved “Wing So Calm” - Carrara Marble.
