Oil on Canvas
The Artist - Jane Hodgson SWAc
Pivotal to Jane’s new work is the transparent organic film on which she paints. It is not plastic. Her landscape-based paintings convey a strong sense of physical energy; using oil paint and ferrous powders - colour, light and surface coalesce. Fully conscious of mans ongoing damage to our planet, Jane aims to offer something beautiful to her audience. The sheet film is degradable over time and in certain conditions, and is likely to alter in due course, just as our planet does. It hangs away from the wall on bespoke mid-steel pegs, which support glass rods stitched to the painting with fishing line. The resulting play of colours reflected behind is an important element of the work.
