The Artist - Isabel Coulton SWAc
Having studied Historic Carving, in London and Florence, Isabel Coulton believes in the interrelation between technical skills and creative invention. With an approach that cannot be called confined, Coulton’s art combines both her love of classical and contemporary sculpture with her playful nature. Isabel enjoys exploring new mediums and subjects, nourished by the need to learn, experiment, discover in the hope of defining a purer form of artistic expression. ‘Excited by almost every creative process my inspiration comes in the natural world, from artefacts of ancient civilisations, and the work of Zadkine, Gill, Hepworth, amongst others.’ Isabel’s work is underpinned by life-drawing, considering it artistic yoga, a way of exercising hand/eye coordination, to find the essence of line and form.
