The Artist - Roger Pyke
Roger Pyke is a self-taught painter from Launceston. With a career in the transport industry, extensive travel across the USA and UK, a Cornish mining ancestry and subsequent historical research studies/publications, Roger creates paintings that feel nostalgic, multi-textured and evocative within each landscape or architectural subject, bringing a twist of movement and a shimmer of light to his canvas. In the last 7 years, Roger has been disabled and primarily housebound by severe ME/CFS, so his style evolved to enable reduced painting capacity. 20% of all sales profits are donated to the charity Invest in ME Research (IIMER) which is pioneering biomedical research into this disease. Roger has sold work through Drawn to the Valley Artists' Collective exhibitions and to private collectors in Sussex, Cheshire and Cornwall, with paintings displayed at Zebediah's in Launceston. Ardamurchan Stream was inspired by the exquisite view of a soothing stream on a visit to the beautiful Ardnamurchan peninsula in the Scottish Highlands.
