The Artist - Shari Hills
Watercolour is my first love – using transparent glazes of paint to capture the ethereal effects of light and colour in nature. Sometimes natural fibres or handmade papers are collaged onto the painting to create depth and texture (Barn Owl). As my ceramic work has evolved it has become inhabited by the creatures of my paintings. Experimenting with the surface of the clay and painterly techniques has been a joy. I work from my garden studio in the Tamar valley, Cornwall, a member of the Drawn to the Valley group of artists based around the Tamar.
