Dove

Rachel’s ceramic bird collection is inspired by her deep love and connection to the diversity of bird-life around her home in Devon. Each bird is individually brought to life using clays of differing texture and inherent colour. The surface of the birds’ characteristic form is then enhanced with oxides and stains. Finally, these recognisable colours are enriched by raku firing. Her small garden birds were recently commissioned and adapted for wedding table place-markers. Rachel has a design background from architectural studies in the USA and an education degree in art and design.
