The Dorset Copperfish. Based near Corfe Castle, Ted draws upon his 35years in historic automotive and engineering to create detailed sculpture, using steel, copper, brass, aluminium and unusual found objects. The materials are hand formed using traditional shaping and forming techniques to create the work. Ted uses mainly traditional machinery and tooling for his work, ‘It’s all quite analog really, thump, bang, roll, roll, job done’ He has successfully combined 19th and 20th century industrial design with the shape and form of nature to create some truly unique sculpture. Growing up in Swanage, Dorset on the Jurassic coast he is greatly inspired by the Isle of Purbeck and especially the sea, both above and below the waves. Ted has created work for numerous commercial and private clients alike. Ted is also a regular on Quest/Discovery TVs ‘Salvage Hunters, the Restorers’ team for the last 4 years.
