Waiting to Fly

I have had a studio in South Devon since 1996 where I have evolved process and developed through the experience of life, parenthood, and various experiments with different materials. Much of my work is based on the human form and is often emotive. I now mostly carve in stone and wood which is carved in a way that entices the viewer to engage with the senses; drawing attention to some areas and simplifying others. Ideas are formed from West country stone and more recently Alabaster and Marble. I’ve also always been interested in movement and recently have been making experimental works in lightweight materials to explore this theme. In 2022 I was invited to go to Majorca to do some maintenance repairs on a sculpture I made from welded steel and cement 26 years ago in Devon! which was a very rewarding and special experience to be reunited with that work.
