Nadezhda Lisak SWAc has exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Royal Watercolour Society, and had her first solo show at the Royal Academy of Dance in London in 2025. She specialises in portraiture in a style which sits on a junction between fine art and comic book art. Her work is marked by large areas of empty space, an uncluttered design, and a minimal colour palette. The result is a body of work which has a Zen-like quality of stillness and calm. Nadezhda's greatest love is music, and her deep fascination with musicians and how they commune with their chosen instrument is a constant source of inspiration. Her paintings are a celebration of beauty, and of connection to something beyond the material world - which musicians demonstrate so acutely when they 'disappear' and become one with the music. Her paintings attempt to convey this oneness, this uplift of spirit, this universal beauty of humanity and the music of our species which is our solace, our joy, our connection, and our anchor to what is right in the world.
