The Artist - Sally O'Neill

I try to dig deeper than a photograph would and look for the things that might hold a secret, recall a thought or feeling: The damp stones in a mossy wall, the soft colours and stillness on the moors, the stark silhouettes of the trees in winter, ever changing clouds or the vastness of a clear sky opening up in to space. Trying to convey the atmosphere and essential beauty of our countryside and coast is the hardest thing. I paint in acrylic, it is faster to work with than oil. I love watercolour for sketching and drawing en-plein air. Sometimes ink, charcoal and graphite can be the medium of choice. It’s a pleasure to be exhibiting at Delamore again. Enjoy it all.
