George Hider is a self-educated artist working for the last 24 years from his Somerset workshop. A pioneer for the use of scrap metal in art, his ability to create lifelike sculptures has evolved from dedication and a natural talent. He is fastidious in the preparation of the metal by cleaning, bending and forming each piece before creating an individual sculpture. He is equally painstaking in the final finish to remove all rough edges to create a tactile form. His motivation is his passion to create warm, realistic forms from cold metal – and for people to enjoy his work.
