Since 2003 Philip has worked, when curating and teaching allow, in his studio in France where he is currently documenting the Demise of the Rural. Each visit is used for a study into the soul of the subject the above theme encourages the viewer to stand back and linger in the old renewed, or before decay takes away all traces) he concentrates on recording this environment, especially landscape and buildings, using the medium of oil paint en ‘Plein-Air’ wherever he happens to be; capturing the atmosphere in an ever changing world without compromise. Once finished (some may be worked on for several seasons, returning to the same spot) the paintings are never ‘touched up’ and this authenticity has bought respect both at home and abroad.Other work by this artist ...
