Walking on the Cornish Coast Path, through the woods, valleys and fields along the way was a major inspiration for my painting this year. In particular through Lamorna, seeped in the memories of past artists who loved to work there. The colours on the coast are different, clearer. The skies are bigger and the trees more regal. Many places to just stop and stare and soak up the atmosphere. An architect by training, drawing is a love, but colour is even more of a passion. The pale pastel shades of winter, the solid bright colours of summer, and all in between. I paint with acrylics as I love the fullness of colour they have, but also the freedom to edit, overpaint and work quickly.
