The Artist - Laura Kriefman
I am an internationally exhibiting Leaded Stained Glass Artist based in Dawlish Devon. I love combining my exceptional technical delivery with a contemporary visual style that is playful, colourful and vivid. I work in Glass using leaded Stained Glass, Copper Foil, traditional Glass Painting and Glass Casting techniques. Work ranges between door and window sets to beautiful ornaments, free standing artworks and custom commissions. I fell in love with working in Glass in 2020, after 2 decades in the UK Creative Industries working as an award-winning inter-disciplinary Choreographer and Artist (Hellion Trace). It felt entirely natural to combine my extensive knowledge of the human body into my exploration of contemporary stained glass. I moved into working in Stained Glass full time in 2024 and won the Amanda Moriarty Memorial Prize, was featured in Devon Life Magazine and Greenhill Arts Biennale. In 2025 I was longlisted for the Ruth Borchard Portrait Award and work was featured at the International Biennale of Glass, Bulgaria 2025 before being chosen for their permanent collection. I was also accepted as a full member at Make South West, with work on sale at Thelma Hubert Gallery, and White Sails Gallery. In 2026, two of my pieces have been selected for It’s All in the Technique at World of Glass, St Helen’s. Each piece starts as a cartoon before each piece of glass is entirely cut by hand. The work is then painted with vitreous glass painting techniques, if suitable, before being traditionally leaded. My work is the result of 4 years of self taught development supplemented by additional training at Teign Valley Glass, with Nina Perrot (Member of the Guild of Master Craftsman) Zhenning Li and Fiaz Elson (Glass Casting) and Tommy Gustafsschiöld (Neon Signs).Other work by this artist ...
