‘Recycling metal into bespoke art’ Look closely, as these are handmade from recycled cutlery. I have applied protective coatings to some of my outdoor sculptures, as it is incredibly difficult to ensure corrosive resistance when outside. Cutlery can vary so much, and I don’t wish my creativity to be constrained by this. I still do offer to make works in my best quality cutlery, which has quality markings/features present. These last couple of years, the dawn chorus has been particularly special to me and I have got up especially early to enjoy it. That is why you see a singing wren. This is a new feature to enter my portfolio. Another, welcome guest to the dawn chorus is the blackbird. These are one of my favourite birds due to their expressive nature. To have designed this one is a real triumph; not only have I produced this from my new workshop near Topsham/Darts Farm; I’ve also attempted one for many years without success. The fanned tail was a very intentional feature to show-off lots of beautiful cutlery, whilst the turned head and carefully shaped beak convey additional attitude and character.
