Nature and natural forms are the inspiration that feeds Ian’s work, giving his sculptures in stainless steel, glass and bronze their timeless appeal. Unrestricted by rigid artistic convention, he explores ideas with freedom, using materials and methods as befits his vision for each individual work. There is a bold freshness in his use of stainless steel; the texturing he adds to the surface creating shades of light that alter as you move, transforming the surface from brightest silver to darkest grey. The natural fluidity in his sculptures allows them to sit comfortably into both traditional gardens as well as more contemporary architectural settings. He exhibits widely, both here and overseas and is commissioned by corporate and public bodies as well as private clients. Ian is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.
