The Artist - Adrian Brough
Adrian Brough lives and works near St Ives in Cornwall. The son of celebrated potter Alan Brough, he has been immersed in ceramics and art throughout his life. Strongly influenced by his father’s work and tutored by William Marshall, Adrian’s practice is rooted in the enduring traditions of British studio pottery. Drawing on this heritage, he has developed a distinctive range of decorative, high-fired earthenware that reflects his deep connection to Cornwall’s coastal environment, with surfaces and forms inspired by the sea and landscape that surround him. Alongside this, he continues to make more simply decorated stoneware pieces that honour the St Ives and Leach traditions, balancing respect for the past with a personal and contemporary voice.
