Liz is a sculptor and ceramicist who creates work in clay, bronze and papier-mache. She has a particular passion for porcelain, for its tactile strength after firing and for its ability to take colour. She is an image chaser, and during hand building her ideas develop as the pieces grow. She often builds pieces in layers, playing with reflective surfaces and sculptures within those layers. The shapes she forms become her canvases to paint on.She enjoys the diagnostics of working in ceramic, it takes her back to her roots in veterinary medicine. She studied sculpture and ceramics in France along with being taught porcelain overglaze painting techniques by skilled crafts women in Chantilly. As a result of this her work has a touch of the crazy French Chateau about it. Despite being ornate, pieces sometimes also have political messages, but always in a way that pulls the viewer in, rather than shouting from the walls. She was elected a full member of The Society of Women Artists, (SWA) in 2022.
