The Artist - Steve Parsons
Steve Parsons is a designer, after spending 35 years in his first career as an award winning contemporary jewellery designer based in Guildford, Surrey, he has now started his second career as a sculptor , a natural evolution from small glamorous designs to the larger scale house and garden enhancing designs. His statement sinuous lines and bold structure from decades of jewellery design translate beautifully to this new medium. Upon moving to North Devon he took himself back to school, and has spent the last two years studying at The Sculpture School near North Tawton learning the anatomy of animals and birds and translating that into sculptural form. Now working from his studio using these foundations and with design as his driving force, he initially sculpts in clay to encapsulate the very essence of the animal or bird in a contemporary form. Using his jewellery metalwork skills he structures the sculptures and ultimately casts in foundry bronze and resins with an emphasis on the final textures and patinations. He has work exhibited at RHS Rosemoor and in 2025 was shortlisted for 2 sculptures as a finalist for the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year awards
