Glen Farrelly RCA is a sculptor whose practice is rooted in material transformation, memory, and renewal. He trained at Camberwell College of Arts, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Ceramics), before embarking on a distinguished 20-year career in education as Head of Art at a leading independent school in London. A pivotal shift occurred after Glen moved to California, where devastating wildfires nearly destroyed his home. Returning to the burned landscape, he began collecting scorched and discarded wood, drawn to its raw history and resilience. This experience marked a profound change in his artistic direction. Working directly with reclaimed or unwanted timber, Glen carves and reassembles each piece to reveal its hidden beauty, narrative, and future value. His work is informed by an ongoing fascination with ancient standing stones and the symbols carved into them. Now based in North Wales, Glen works with reclaimed and storm-fallen timber, often using the ancient Japanese technique of Yakisugi. His sculptures have been exhibited internationally and are currently shown across the UK in prestigious sculpture parks and galleries.
