Hand building large forms in stoneware is my ideal, always trying new ways to create pieces that will fit in my kiln, but then build into larger works such as my first two ‘Sentinel’ figures at a metre tall. Pure shape is always a draw and I return again and again to the pierced form. Feeling my way into the perfect curve is magical as it gradually evolves. Relying mainly on subtle washes of oxide in the past, I am increasingly experimenting with various glaze recipes. Often the hoped for effect doesn’t appear but....sometimes, something wonderful!Other work by this artist ...
